Um belo tombo. Assim podemos classificar a queda de investimentos em startups em 2023, mais precisamente 56,8% a menos em relação a 2022, isso significou US$2,5 bilhões a menos, com um total de investimentos de “apenas” US$1,9 bilhões em 2023. Ainda assim o Brasil se destaca no mercado, representou 61,2% dos investimentos da América Latina em número de negociações.
Entre as principais causas para o “inverno das startups” estão escassez de dinheiro e principalmente juros altos. Nesse cenário, os investidores preferem mitigar os riscos e recorrem a ativos de menor risco e alto rendimento.
Mas, parece que o jogo está virando, não é mesmo?
Sim! Com a queda da Selic, o mercado volta a ficar atrativo e os números refletem esse momento. O primeiro semestre de 2024 mostrou um significativo crescimento na quantia de negociações em startups na América Latina, entre o curto período de abril a junho os aportes chegaram a US$2,2 bilhões, mais da meta só no Brasil, isso significa um aumento de 78% comparado à 2023. Os dados são da Sling Hub.
Além da diminuição da taxa de juros, uma reestruturação do setor ajuda no impulsionamento dos investimentos. Os negócios estão mais focados em eficiência e uma correção de valores com reajustes de valuations deram mais segurança e atratividade para o segmento. Os investidores buscam agora empresas com alto potencial de desenvolvimento e com baixos níveis de custo. De acordo com especialistas, o segundo semestre deve ser ainda mais promissor para as startups.
Outro fator que favorece o crescimento desse tipo de investimentos é a aprovação, em abril deste ano, de um projeto de lei complementar que criou um novo modelo para incentivar esse tipo de negócio. O texto, aprovado por unanimidade na Câmara, altera o Marco Legal das Startups e cria o Contrato de Investimentos Conversível em Capital Social (CICC), assim, o investidor transfere recursos à startups para a subscrição de ações ou quotas de emissão, em momento futuro e mediante a ocorrência de eventos predeterminados no próprio contrato. A alteração traz mais segurança jurídica para o investidor anjo e também para as startups que terão o instrumento necessário para segurança de novos investimentos.
Brasil mostra a sua cara
O mercado de startups no Brasil ainda tem muito espaço para crescimento. Estudo realizado pelo MIT Technology Review Brasil em parceria com o Google Cloud, constatou que 41% das startups brasileiras não recebem nenhum tipo de investimentos e a dificuldade de ter investidores foi a dificuldade mais citada por 38,46% dos empreendedores. Entre as empresas mais ouvidas estão as de Software, venda direta e marketplaces. Entre os entrevistados, 27,88% afirmaram que é difícil ter uma rede de contatos para se conectar com potenciais investidores.
